On 8th December 2021 took place the first CARIBSAN webinar with the objective of informing water utilities in the Caribbean on the functioning of treatment wetlands technologies.

This seminar aimed at presenting to the technical staff the functioning of this nature-based solution for wastewater treatment, a solution which is particularly adapted to tropical islands.

Experts from the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE) in France presented the mechanisms involved in constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment, as well as tropicalized systems for domestic wastewater treatments and the advantages and drawbacks of the technology.

The 32 participants came from various water utilities from the English-speaking Caribbean islands. They had the opportunity to ask many questions to the speakers.
